Job Responsibilities
The Tri-County Technical College Comprehensive Studies Department is seeking a collaborative, energetic, and innovative Development Reading Adjunct Instructor. Reporting to the Comprehensive Studies Department Head, the successful candidate will teach courses using systematically planned and delivered instruction for the program; maintain records of student academic progress and attendance, evaluate the level of achievement, and assign grades for the program. Teaching assignments may include both day and evening classes, and at various Tri-County Technical College community campuses within Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties. The Fall 2024 Semester begins on August 12. This role is a part-time, non-benefited role.
Coursework may include courses that emphasize critically analyzing texts from various genres to gain specific information, monitoring comprehension by teaching and monitoring metacognitive skills, and enhancing vocabulary through the use of context clues and word parts. Assignments will include the process of measuring reading progress through assessing comprehension as well as the application of reading skills. Applicants should have an interest or background in a learning outcome-based curriculum and have the desire to work in a collaborative environment with underprepared and under-resourced student populations.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Bachelor’s in Education or English (or related field) with a reading endorsement and/or
significant, documented teaching/coaching experience specific to reading (i.e. 5-7 years) OR 18 graduate hours in reading education/literacy, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s in Literacy, Reading Education, etc. OR Master’s in Education with 18 graduate hours in reading, literacy, or related field;
