Credit Specialist

PepUp, an affiliate of Tri Gas & Oil, is seeking a full-time employee to join the Credit Team in Federalsburg Maryland. This team supports all districts with aging receivables and ongoing credit applications. TGO and their family of businesses offer competitive benefits and a family-oriented workplace.

The Collections Specialist will be responsible for evaluating and approving wholesale credit applications to determine a customer's credit worthiness. That person will contact accounts that are delinquent and negotiate amicable payment terms and plans.

QUALIFICATIONS / DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES (description of what the employee is accountable for):

• Periodically review wholesale accounts to ensure customers are within their credit terms.
• Developing professional relationships with large wholesale customers, offering excellent customer service.
• Resolve customer concerns and investigate and reconcile payments.
• Make decisions regarding the discontinuation of service and resolve customer concerns.
• Prepare accounts to turn over to our Collection Agency or Attorney when all collection efforts have been exhausted.
• Navigate and process payments through the Government payment system (WAWF).

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE (licenses, educational level, years of experience, skills needed for the job, special demands of the job etc.):

Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Basic accounting skills needed to reconcile accounts
• Personal computer skills: MS Office/MS Outlook including MS Excel
• Must be self-directed and desire autonomy
• Be decisive and able to negotiate payment schedules with customers
• Previous credit and collections experience required
• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS / EXPECTATIONS:

This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and mobile devices.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

This is largely a sedentary role.  The employee will sit and or stand most of their shift, view computer screens, paperwork and filing is required.  This would require the ability to lift files, open cabinets bending or standing, stoop, and pull, or kneel as necessary. The employee must occasionally pull, lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
