We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Data Architect. The Data Architect will bring a strong technical and analytical mindset required to engineer effective Data Governance solutions. A Federal Services information technology (IT) customer requires support of the Enterprise Data Strategy Implementation including data management, strategy, policies, and governance. The Data Architect will understand key principles of Data Management, Data Security, Data Pipelines, and Data Stewardship. The Data Architect will organize, and manage data assets and their related data policies and business rules, and work closely with business users to understand their data requirements and the analytic insights they need to make data-driven decisions.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Support the development and Incorporation of data policies and metadata into data governance platforms, such as Collibra
- Create data governance models, including assets, relationships, domains, and communities
- Define workflow, security, dashboard, reporting, and integration requirements
- Generate data management artifacts, such as data models, diagrams, ETL mappings, data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and test use cases
- Integrate data governance repositories with data platforms to automate data governance processes (e.g., metadata capturing, lineage, data quality)
- Work with data engineers, process and workflow analysts, data scientists, business analysts, data stewards, and data custodians to design and implement data governance and data management solutions
- Assist in the design and development of web applications in Java, Python, .xml, and/or JSON by providing design, coding, testing, and validating environments and tools that solve engineering-related problems
Required Qualifications:
· Enterprise level role with ownership of and accountability for leading the enterprise data governance processes and standards for a specific data domain and related process areas. This individual will develop and support the data policies, rules and metrics for their respective data domain.
- Operates as the primary point of contact within a data domain, directly interacting with stakeholders and the other data stewards across all areas of the organization when necessary
- Responsible for data quality and the promotion of data accuracy and adherence to best-in-class data management practices
- Ensures alignment of the enterprise data governance processes and standards with relevant global, line of business and local data support models
- Provides recommendations and supporting documentation for new or proposed data policies (e.g. standards and business rules) in conjunction with the Business Data Owner to be approved by the Enterprise Data Governance Board
- Refines and continues to develop the overall data governance organization for managing data elements that impact the business and critical data elements to address both identified and potential organizational requirements
- Monitors key KPI's to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the critical data within their domain
- Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.
- Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned
- Senior-level working experience in government or industry in relevant work areas including DoD/IC Acquisition Process, Requirements Process, or system engineering of large complex System of Systems or Service Oriented Architecture/Cloud environments
- Utilize a variety of languages and tools (e.g., APIs, scripting languages) to build data pipelines to pull together information from different source systems; Apply expert knowledge of scripting, tools, programming languages, standards, and software packages to build databases and data pipelines; Accomplish data cleansing, preparation, transformations, storage, and security.
· Support the development of high performance data pipelines for distributed systems and data analytics for customers
· Develop data set processes for data discovery, modeling, mining, and production
· Integrate and prepare large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements
· Create tool-chains for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing AI workflows
· Experience with engineering data pipeline from collection and processing to visualization of SQL and NOSQL cyber security data sources for threat analysis and modelling
· Work with Agency data and machine learning experts to improve functionality in our data and model life cycle management capabilities
· Develop enterprise interoperable coding and data standards and create processes to ensure use of enterprise-wide data architecture capabilities
· Solve problems and deliver solutions with database access and data integration, define data conflation, fusion, and de-confliction rules
· Collaborate with data architects, data scientists, data stewards, and customers to enable more efficient and effective data informed decision-making

Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with data modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical) and a strong knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and columnar databases
- Experience with a wide variety of tools and techniques such as Mulesoft, Activiti, Jenkins, Git, REST APIs, JIRA, etc
- Experience with Functional Testing, Security, Integration Testing, System Acceptance Testing, and User Acceptance Testing phases
- Ability to plan and conduct major technical phases of data management projects by coordinating the implementation and oversight of data management frameworks
Education Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Systems Engineering or in related technical or scientific fields such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program, or equivalent Senior level experience as a Systems Engineer
