Responsibilities: Develop, plan, and follow up on stories from various sources, including government agencies, wire services, social media and community groups Assigns photojournalists, reporters, and other personnel to cover stories Coordinates logistics for news personnel Works closely with Assignment Manager, other Assignment Editors, Digital, Executive Producers, Producers, Writers, etc. Social Media expert, with ability to search for stories, contacts or reach out to individuals for video/photo permissions Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites with good use of customer service skills Edit video clips as assigned Monitor multiple scanners, familiarity with police codes Performs other duties as assigned   Requirements & Skills:   Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience Fluency in English, proficiency in a second language is a plus Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Minimum three years’ experience in news operations Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously Flexibility to work any shift, including holidays and weekends KTLA will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring.
