Childrens Activity Book Designer/Illustrator

Location: Hybrid Position - Trillium Teamologies Headquarters, Royal Oak, Michigan or Remote

Project Overview/Responsibilities:

We are seeking a talented and experienced designer/illustrator to create a children s activity book tailored for ages 5-12. The project involves designing and illustrating an engaging, colorful, and educational book that spans 8-12 pages, including front and back covers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Illustration and Design: Create custom illustrations and designs for the book, ensuring they are age-appropriate and engaging for children aged 5-12.
• Content Layout: Design the layout of all elements both text and visual in Adobe InDesign.
• Cover Design: Develop custom designs for the front and back covers of the book.
• Visual Content: Create and integrate all visual content for each page, which may include vector art and raster images.
• Software Proficiency: Utilize Adobe Illustrator or other preferred illustration software for creating vector art before exporting to InDesign.
• Text Integration: Incorporate provided text content seamlessly into the design layout.
• Accessibility Compliance: Ensure the final .pdf is Section 508 compliant, making it readable by screen readers.
• Portfolio Submission: Provide a portfolio of past work that demonstrates your styles and techniques, particularly in children s books, illustrations, and digital designs.
• Communication: Be familiar with, and have experience joining, video conference calls on platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in illustrating and designing children s books.
• Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and other relevant design software.
• Strong portfolio showcasing relevant work, especially in children s books and digital designs.
• Understanding of Section 508 compliance requirements for PDFs.
• Excellent layout design skills, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate via video conferencing tools.
