The Subject Matter Expert will be supporting a Mainframe application Development team that is responsible for

  • Primary responsibility is the software development and maintenance of the legacy mainframe application and services (online and batch).
  • Currently this environment consists of IBM z14 mainframes, zOS operating system, CICS, DB2, Cobol and Java.
  • Software development specific to NIEM XML supporting external customers.
  • Software development specific to dot delimited format.
  • Development and delivery of unit tests and automated tests.

 

This position is responsibilities include:

  • Serves as subject matter expert, possessing in-depth knowledge of a particular area, such as business, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or the various sciences.
  •  Provides technical knowledge and analysis of highly specialized applications and operational environments, high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, and implementation advice on exceptionally complex problems that need extensive knowledge of the subject matter for effective implementation.
  • Participates as needed in all phases of software development with emphasis on the planning, analysis, testing, integration, documentation, and presentation phases.
  • Applies principles, methods, and knowledge of the functional area of capability to specific TO requirements, advanced mathematical principles and methods to exceptionally difficult and narrowly defined technical problems in engineering and other scientific applications to arrive at automated solutions.
  • Lead teams, completing research, performing analysis, and advising government managers.
  • Lead teams designing, coding, testing, modeling, updating system documentation, engineering, analyzing, and researching.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the use of legacy technology and architecture and its underlying business processes.
  • Provide insight on the impact of improvement initiatives on legacy technology and architecture and the criminal justice community.
  • Work collaboratively with the Product Management Team on strategic and tactical planning efforts.
  • Work with business analysts to provide guidance and clarification on the impact of new business process and requirements on legacy technology and architecture.
  • Responsible for but not limited to defining strategy, analyzing business processes, and specifying requirements related to legacy technology and architecture.
  • Provide expert knowledge of legacy technology related and architecture related baseline documentation and associated toolsets for the Product Management Team.
  • Legacy knowledge of Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCIs) and how they relate to one another.
  • Knowledge of the relationship between the legacy CSCIs and the legacy Computer Hardware Configuration Items (CHCIs).
  • Knowledge of legacy software programming languages and associated legacy software development tools.
  • Legacy external and internal messaging and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
  • On-going legacy technology and architecture related documentation maintenance.
  • Design of business workflow that supports the Product Management Team.
  • Design concepts for design features that will lead to the creation of user and functional requirements and their associated attributes within the system documentation toolset.
  • Recent experience with Enterprise COBOL for z/OS, CA Gen, CICS, DB2, JCL, IBM utilities (e.g., IDCAMS, IEFBR14, ICETOOL, ICEMAN), and TSO/ISPF.
  • Recent experience with modern mainframe architectures
