Data Analyst - Electric Utility

The Opportunity

Join our Data Services team where you will support the collection, analysis, and reporting of metering data.  You will collect energy information from electrical utility meters, data loggers, and external customer site downloads to develop and maintain SSRS reports for performance analysis.  This role will utilize your analytical and data reporting experience to perform SQL database tasks consistent with operational requirements. 

You will provide support to external data services customers ranging from data monitoring and data anomaly identification to collecting Settlement Quality Meter Data (SQMD) for meter data management.  If you like to combine data analytic skills with business acumen to provide business intelligence reporting and actionable insight into business decisions for managers and clients, this is the position for you! 

The Team

You will work alongside a small team of 4-6 Data Analysts in close collaboration with our Meter Engineers and Technicians.

The Environment

This is a flex-based role based in our Folsom, CA headquarter office.  You will work in a controlled office environment with flexibility for remote work.

Growth & Development

In this position you will gain knowledge and experience in the California energy market, renewable energy, energy metering and energy data collection and analysis.  You will develop a greater understanding of the different types of metering available to collect revenue meter data and about the various programs that offer incentives for renewable energy generation. 

Your Key Contributions

• Collect, review, analyze and interpret data collected from electrical utility meters, data loggers, and external customer site downloads
• Utilize statistical applications and validation, editing, and estimation (VEE) techniques for interpreting and/or estimating data
• Understand comparative data trends and integrate benchmark data into analysis and reports
• Translate requirements into data specifications into MV-90 system, as well as other formats as applicable
• Develop and maintain SSRS reports based on customer requirements for normalized data presentation, forecasting, financial projections, invoicing and/or billing
• Maintain a thorough understanding of subject matter expertise (SME) for related incentive programs within the energy industry, such as WREGIS and SGIP
• Provide internal support to other departments for data services requests that require troubleshooting, SME, or planning of data services processes on a per project basis
• Provide the highest standard of customer service by administering technical assistance or SME through the Customer Care service ticketing system

Traits for Success

• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science
• Experience working in data analytics, including complex statistical analysis
• Experience with SQL queries, jobs, procedures and SSRS integration
• Experience with meter data management from the utilities or finance industries
• Knowledge of SQL, SSRS reporting/analysis tools and database schema design
• Experience manipulating and interpreting large data sets
• Exposure to the California energy market and related revenue metering
• Ability to express technical concepts in a non-technical manner
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Strong facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
• BONUS: MV90 experience
