POSITION PURPOSE
The Diversity and Inclusion Specialist works under the guidance of Diversity and Inclusion leaders to support the advancement of the diversity strategy of Trinity Health by managing diversity and inclusion programs. This position works across the business to support the organizational diversity and inclusion platform, initiatives, and tactics. This position assists in ensuring alignment with corporate business goals, the philosophy and objectives of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and Human Resources processes, systems and programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
Implements activities that drive the company's integrated diversity strategy through working closely with business unit leaders and human resources.
Works closely with management and human resources functions to provide resources and tools in support of action plans, key initiatives, goals and objectives.
Monitors measurements related to hiring, development, advancement and retention of diverse talent; guides and monitors progress against diversity metrics and action plans.
Identifies barriers to the success of diversity and provides input into development of strategies and initiatives to address these barriers. Assesses opportunities to link diversity with ongoing business and HR processes and initiatives.
Maintains systems to track, measure and report on diversity initiatives and programs and identify risks and opportunities based on analyses of the data.
Implements an effective system of monitoring and oversight to ensure that policies and practices are both compliant and being followed.
Partners with Talent Acquisition to provide candidate sourcing recommendations and/or recruiters to build pipeline of qualified minority, female and other diverse applicants resulting in increased hiring of women and minorities.
Ensures workforce metrics are regularly reported to HR management and other stakeholders
Proactively seeks opportunities to showcase Trinity Health’s supplier diversity programs in the appropriate internal and external publications.
Builds effective, ongoing relationships within the assigned health ministry system and provides guidance and resources expert counseling to these clients/groups.
Explores diversity issues by reviewing publications, benchmarking state-of-the art thinking, forming focus groups; conducting surveys, requesting internal and external input from those in a position to contribute and measuring diversity tension.
Responsible for developing sustained relationships with regional leaders, teams and groups.
Assists in providing recommendation on strategic diversity goals by gathering pertinent business, financial and operations information; identifying and evaluating trends and options; choosing a course of action; defining objectives and evaluating outcomes.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, organizational behavior or a related business discipline with the minimum of three to five (3-5) years of professional experience in the field of human resources, two to four (2-4) of which must be in the area of diversity and inclusion work within a corporation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written and the interpersonal skills necessary to interface at all levels of the organization.
Vision, creativity and a passion for diversity work.
Participative leadership style as well as the ability to collaborate well within teams and with individuals.
Demonstrated strategic planning and project management skills are critical.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to them as they change frequently.
Must be able to travel to the various Trinity Health sites nationwide (up to 5%).
