Come join the Patient Access team at Mercy Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Of New England!The Patient Access Representative is responsible for pre-registration, registration and admission functions for Mercy Medical Center.
What you will do
Verifies insurance requirements, obtains and understands insurance benefits
Responsible for upfront collections, co-pays and high deductibles
Ensures that all entries concerning demographic, financial and advanced directives are accurate. Collects non-covered fees
Interviews all patients to obtain demographic and financial information, inputs data into Meditech system. Identifies party that can legally authorize services. Sorts and distributes all appropriate copies and completes all phases of registration process, (i.e.) other papers, patient bracelet, patient rights, Health Care Proxy info etc
Coordinates bed assignment for all patients and maintains death books and releases information to funeral homes
Has a clear understanding and explains hospital policies or regulations concerning valuables, patient’s rights, health care proxy, Notice to Medicare beneficiaries, and hospital mission
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, college preferred.
Medical terminology skills.
Relevant medical office, hospital / physicians billing or patient registration experience preferred.
Excellent customer service, verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.
