Come join our Respiratory team at Mercy Medical Center, a member of Trinity Health Of New England!Position Purpose
Under the supervision of licensed RRTs or CRTs, sets up and administers medically prescribed respiratory care modalities for which he or she has successfully met educational program and/or department training requirements.
What you will do
Administer all respiratory care therapies as allowed by student permit, under appropriate supervision. These include administration of medical gases, use of gas administering devices, administration of humidification and aerosols, administration of aerosol medications, postural drainage, bronchopulmonary hygiene therapies, breathing exercises, maintaining natural and artificial airways, sputum induction and collection, blood gas punctures / analysis / interpretations, and/or pulmonary function testing
Respond to, participate in, and call designated resources for all emergent situations within the assigned area
Educate patients and families on disease prevention, smoking cessation, treatment procedure and use of respiratory devices
Perform initial and ongoing respiratory assessments to gauge appropriateness and response to therapy
Plan, schedule and efficiently organize therapy schedules in order to complete work in a timely manner, following standards of care
Minimum Qualifications
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care program as a 2nd year student.
Must have state limited permit or be in application process. For those in application process, must obtain within 60 days of hire date for continued employment.
Clinical instructor recommendation letters are highly recommended.
Previous healthcare experience preferred.
Current Basic Life support (BLS).
