Position Purpose:
The Security Officer carries out the responsibilities of maintaining order within the health center by monitoring and securing the premises and by responding to threats and safety concerns. Enforces all health center regulations in accordance with applicable operation guides. Assists law enforcement agencies and the Mason City Fire Department personnel as required when on medical center property.
What you will Do:
Utilizes problem solving knowledge and skills to investigate problems and formulate solutions to improve safety, maximize growth and reduce costs.
Enforces hospital parking regulations and policy.
Secures helicopter pad for landing and liftoff.
Responds immediately to all Code calls, using the fastest and most direct means, and performs directed duties in accordance with Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa Policies.
Assists in situations or physical altercation that may require them to physically escort someone off of campus or restrain them until additional support arrives.
Files written report after each shift, listing all potential Environment of Care issues. Documents in detail all incidents that are considered to be out of the ordinary.
Conducts fire drills as required and participates with all emergency code activations.
Hours/Schedule: Part time; Nights; (16) hours/week.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Neatness and diplomacy skills required.
Writing skills necessary to file daily and special reports required.
Must have valid driver’s license.
Must be able to read, write and/or speak English.
Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.
Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines
Completes MANDT Training within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
Motor Vehicle:

If required to operate MercyOne vehicle, will need to have proof of and maintain valid driver's license on file with Human Resources.
