The Information Technology Specialist (IT Specialist) reports to the Director of Technology and works closely with members of the Technology Team. The IT Specialist is responsible for the management of the school’s help desk and all related desktop, laptop, and application support. The IT Specialist is expected to perform other duties as assigned beyond those responsibilities stated below and is expected to support the school and its leadership in pursuit of the school mission, values, and core competencies.

The IT Specialist is a position which requires a great deal of interaction with both adults and students and a significant amount of independence and self-direction. Therefore, this position requires someone who is extremely well organized, a detail-oriented individual who has a high energy level together with an accompanying sense of urgency and a drive to achieve results. Because of the nature of the information involved, the person in this position must be someone of unquestioned integrity who has an impeccable reputation and the ability to handle confidential material and situations with discretion and sensitivity and who honors commitments, communicates clearly, and who interacts with people in a straightforward and personal way.
Responsibilities
● Be able to work with faculty and staff as well as students in kindergarten through 12th grade in support of educational objectives, respond well to constructive criticism, and manage difficult and challenging circumstances successfully.
● Demonstrated knowledge in managing hardware, software, networks, and cloud-based technology.
● Manage the implementation and updating of hardware and software.
● Support faculty and students across a variety of platforms including G Suite, Windows, Chrome, Android, and OS X.
● Build a standard Windows desktop image, which includes a variety of user-specific applications.
● Implement and monitor software updates.
● Assist in maintaining inventory and keeping inventory management database up to date.
● Manage a high-quality help desk.
● Assist with Chromebook management.
● Respond promptly to work orders and help requests submitted by users, to routine alarms, and to network issues. Communicate with users about those requests in a timely manner.
● Assist in planning and implementing future infrastructure and systems deployments.
● Maintain a flexible schedule; on occasion, be willing to work before and after normal operating hours to minimize downtime for the network.
● Participate in continued education and acquire additional certifications, if deemed necessary.
● Help manage and support audio/visual equipment and needs.
● Experience in troubleshooting and supporting printers and copiers on campus.
● Perform other IT functions as needed.
Required Qualifications
· Associate’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
· Ability to articulate technology program needs and concerns.
· Excellent communication skills and strong customer service orientation.
· Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and other administrators in support of the mission of the school.
Physical Requirements

● Standing, walking, and sitting for long periods of time. Usually needed intermittently for brief and long periods of time. Frequency may vary depending on activities and location.
● Frequent bending during several hours or more while working with students. Usually performed for 5 to 30 sec at a time.
● Frequent reaching and hand dexterity for handling motor skills equipment and clerical tasks (such as handwriting, handling a clipboard, index cards, or notebooks, use of the telephone, keyboard, operating office tools and machines); manipulating small and medium size objects.
● Some squatting/kneeling may be needed for specific activities.
● Able to lift, push and pull up to 30 pounds. Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
● May deal with stressful situations in the normal course of duties, including a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
● The work environment is a standard office, classroom, gymnasium, and/or outdoor setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and/or outdoor weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and/or bodily fluids.
