Work alongside doctors, nurses, physicians, therapists and lawyers by working as an onsite interpreter for workers compensation. As a professional interpreter, you will provide an invaluable service to community members by providing on-site interpretation services.
Medical Interpreter
Duties:
- Provide interpretation services for patients and healthcare providers in a medical or legal setting
- Interpret spoken language, including medical or legal terminology, accurately and effectively
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare professionals to ensure accurate understanding of medical or legal information
- Assist with documentation review and translation of medical or legal records
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards
Experience:
- RID, CCHI or NBCMI certification is a plus. (All experience and skill levels encouraged to apply
- Previous experience as a medical or legal interpreter or in a related field is preferred
- Strong language skills in English and at least one other language
- Familiarity with medical or legal terminology and procedures
- Knowledge of cultural nuances and sensitivity when working with diverse populations
- Ability to interpret accurately and efficiently in high-pressure situations
- Proficient in documentation review and translation of medical or legal records
- Experience working in a hospital or court setting is a plus
- Knowledge of child protective services or social work is beneficial
Skills:
- Excellent verbal communication skills in both English and the target language(s)
- Ability to interpret accurately and effectively between languages
- Strong listening skills to understand complex medical or legal information
- Bilingual proficiency in English and the target language(s)
- Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards at all times
