Responsible for maintaining safety and response to emergencies at Hixon Natatorium and/or outdoor pool.Stays proficient in all American Red Cross rescue techniques.
Recognizes and responds effectively in emergencies.
Enforces all of the facility's policies, rules and regulations as outlined in the Aquatics Manual.
Completes records and reports.
Inspects the facility on a daily schedule and reports any unsafe conditions and equipment to the Aquatics Director immediately.
Attends staff/instructor meetings and in-service training.
Models department values and expectations.
Responds to patron's inquiries and concerns.
Completes weekly fitness swims of 300 yards.
Takes preventative action for hazards and injuries that may take place in the pool or on the pool deck.
In the event of an emergency, activate the Emergency Action Plan. Administers First Aid and/or CPR, as needed.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Abides by NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.
Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.
Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION
Required:
None
Preferred:
High school diploma
EXPERIENCE
Required:
No previous experience.
Preferred:
1 month to 6 months.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Required:
Excellent customer service skills.
Detail oriented and self-motivated.
Knowledgeable in and enforce Department of Athletics/Aquatics policies and procedures.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
Passing score of the American Red Cross prerequisite swimming test.
Possession of current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR-PR, and Standard First Aid certifications. Copies of certifications are required to be on file with the Department of Trinity University Athletics/Aquatics.
YMCA/Ellis certifications are also valid.
Copies of certifications are required to be on file with the Department of Trinity University Athletics/Aquatics.
Preferred:
American Red Cross certification prior to hire - can be obtained through the Aquatics Department.
