Reports to: Basketball Director

Location: This is not a remote position. Candidate must relocate to Northern Colorado.
Travel: Some travel will be required.

Overview: Triple Crown Sports has been producing sporting events for 40 years as a family-owned company in beautiful Fort Collins, CO. TCS has grown its brand nationally as one of the premier event companies for youth, high school, and college sports. TCS has owned and operated the Women’s NIT Preseason and Postseason basketball tournaments since 1994. TCS is looking for the next director of the WNIT. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of college basketball experience and comes with contacts/relationships in DI women’s college basketball.

Duties:
  • Manage and oversee the setup and execution of the Preseason and Postseason WNIT tournaments.
  • Maintain events status and create/build tournament structure.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with coaches, school, conference administrators, NCAA, and WBIT regarding WNIT tournaments and Triple Crown Sports.
  • Solicit, contract and secure teams for participation in the Preseason and Postseason WNIT tournaments.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the women’s college basketball market. Consistent tracking and researching of teams, rosters, and rankings to forecast future tournament fields and matchups.
  • Lead the selection and bracketing of the Preseason and Postseason WNIT.
  • Develop and execute budgets for both WNIT tournaments.
  • Provide guidance and management to event support staff working game sites.
  • Manage team travel for the Postseason WNIT.
  • Travel 30% out of the year including some weekends.
  • Work closely with Triple Crown Sports Support Divisions for shipping needs, merchandise orders, press releases, social media, event coverage, TV broadcasts and website updates throughout the year.
  • Assist with the DI men’s and women’s Cancun Challenge, a preseason MTE hosted in Mexico.

Ideal Candidates:
  • 3-5 years of college basketball experience.
  • Established relationships in women’s college basketball.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Effective negotiation skills in contracting execution.
  • Experience organizing and running basketball events, camps, and/or tournaments.
  • Ability to strategically think and plan.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Triple Crown specializes in premium-produced events in four sports (baseball, basketball, softball, and volleyball) played in destination locations that stretch from San Diego to Myrtle Beach and everything in between. TCS produces a men’s and women’s DI college basketball event in Mexico called the Cancun Challenge, along with the women’s basketball Preseason and Postseason DI WNIT, the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge (DI softball), the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (DI NIT) and National Invitational Softball Championship (DI NIT).
