Director of Accounting
Company Overview: a dynamic and rapidly growing company with a revenue of over $700 million. As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a highly skilled Director of Accounting to join our team and lead our accounting department.
Position Overview: The Director of Accounting will play a pivotal role in managing the financial health of the company. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director of Accounting will oversee all aspects of the accounting function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial operations. This position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and extensive experience in accounting practices.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Provide insightful analysis of financial performance to senior management.
- Develop and implement financial reporting processes to enhance transparency and efficiency.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads to develop accurate financial projections.
- Monitor budget variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare long-term financial forecasts to support strategic planning initiatives.
Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and other regulatory filings.
- Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process.
Internal Controls and Risk Management:
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Identify areas of financial risk and implement measures to mitigate them.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, train, and develop accounting staff to support the company's growth objectives.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and mentoring to promote professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
- 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and accounting best practices.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Strong understanding of tax compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
