Job Summary:
The Wound/Ostomy Nurse manages and directs ostomy and wound care needs of inpatients. The goal of the Wound/Ostomy Nurse is prevent hospital acquired wounds and facilitate healing for present on admission wounds.
Develops, revises and implements ostomy and wound policies and procedures (evidence based practice)
Develops, revises and implements ostomy and wound order sets (evidence based practice)
Consults and develops plans of care (per nursing process and scope) for patients with ostomies and wounds (evidence based practice)
Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served
Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills and procedures
Documents all required components of patient care
Facilitates and supports ongoing ostomy and wound care education for staff members
Collects, analyzes and reports essential information related to wound prevalence, wound incidence and departmental operations to appropriate bodies
Leads and/or participates on performance improvement teams
Acts as liaison between Centennial Medical Center and internal/external customers
Supports the facility's Standards of Performance and ICARE values
Qualifications
Graduate of a professional school of nursing; BSN preferred
Current licensure by Tennessee board of nursing or other compact board of nursing
Demonstrated experience with each of the required areas of expertise in section III
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Current BLS provider certification
Current CWON or CWOCN certification(s) within 6 months of hire.
