What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant – Tax position at TriWest Healthcare Alliance?
Under general supervision, the Tax Accountant prepares and processes most company tax returns and corporate filings. The position also includes certain accounting tasks and other finance-related duties in treasury and insurance. Other responsibilities include the organization of tax information, monitoring of department due dates, research and projects as needed. The Tax Accountant will report to the Manager of Tax.
Education & Experience
Required:
o Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or Tax
o 2-3 years Accounting and/or Corporate Tax experience
o Strong computer skills
Preferred:
o Experience in preparation of corporate tax filings o Strong understanding of corporate tax accounting o CPA or CPA candidate working toward certification
Key Responsibilities
o Preparation of company gross receipts returns, property tax assessments and payments, use tax returns, along with informational filings such as annual reports and business license renewals; o Assisting with the preparation of federal and state income tax returns, extensions and estimates;
o Assisting with various treasury functions, such as daily banking and processing of bi-weekly payroll payments for 401(k) and HSA;
o Preparation of journal entries and reconciliations for tax and treasury general ledger accounts;
o Preparation of insurance policy renewals;
o Assisting the department with incoming and outgoing communication, both internal and external (such as with tax regulatory agencies);
o Assisting in organization of company tax documents and workpapers (both electronic and hard copy), including the use of off-site storage;
o Coordination of various information gathering efforts, research and other projects as needed; o Performance of other duties as assigned.

Technical Skills: Knowledge of GAAP (including ASC 740) and Internal Revenue Code; Working understanding of corporate taxation and filing requirements; Ability to consistently produce accurate tax filings utilizing guidance from form instructions, prior period filings and company information; Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
