What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Adjunct Instructor position at Trocaire College?
Trocaire College offers a 12-month certificate program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, with classes offered during the evening on campus and daytime clinical rotations at local healthcare facilities. We are seeking a highly qualified adjunct instructor passionate about teaching the Abdomen course and lab for students to gain entry-level education for success in this dynamic field.
Primary Functions:
· The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is required to teach and instruct within the assigned course(s) in accordance with the defined learning objectives of the College and specified textbook
· Develop course content, assignments, and learning activities that permit measurement of student performance relative to standardized learning objectives
· Maintain and contribute to an inclusive and collaborative class environment
· Employ college learning management system (LMS) and adhere to good instructional practices (examples include published syllabi, office hours, and regular reporting of grades)
· Submit attendance, assignments, and Midterm/Final Grades into the student information system (CAMS) at required time frames
· Provide timely response and support to guide student learning and success throughout the semester via phone, email, and the Trocaire College LMS
· Track and report student learning outcome assessments as assigned and maintain appropriate, timely documentation as requested
· Cultivate a desire to build relationships, find solutions to problems, and engage students in a way that promotes accountability for their learning
· Maintain student information in a confidential manner and follow FERPA guidelines
Minimum Qualifications:
· Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
· Current CPR Certification
· Professional and/or teaching experience in a related field for at least three years
· Strong interpersonal, time management, and written communication skills
· Commitment to the Mercy mission of an opportunity college and a desire to support diverse, inclusive learning environments.
· Knows how to operate ultrasound equipment and sonographic scanning protocols
Preferred Qualifications:
· Teaching experience at the post-secondary level
· Online teaching and/or learning experience
· Demonstrated success in appropriate computer programs and current technology, experience with Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.).
