Associate Technical Director

The Troika Entertainment Associate Technical Director has experience in theatrical production in a variety of disciplines as they oversee the mounting of the physical production, technical personnel and operations of multiple touring productions both domestically and internationally.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Responsible for establishing for physical parameters for each design department to meet the budget requirements for allotted truck space and overall scope
• Manages the scenic and props design and bid process in tandem with the Production Manager
• Create all scenic bid documents and tracking spreadsheet for bid comparison
• Day to day management of scenic budget, including tracking; ensuring that the budget is met
• Oversees and approves the ongoing builds, including approving working drawings, on-site time in shops, and attending technical rehearsals
• Works with Lighting, Automation, Projections, and Audio on rig integration, custom needs as required, and overall rig size to meet trucking and load in parameters
• Works with Lighting, Audio, and Projection design to create the bid documents and manage the scope of the design in conjunction with the Production Manager
• Creates Master Plot synthesizing all production elements including scenery, rigging, lighting, audio, and projection
• Creates and oversees truck packs in coordination with the show Head Carpenter
• Works with PM to assist in route vetting and tough jump strategy as needed
• Remains in frequent contact with the show for the first 3 months of the run to assist in ensuring that all advance are complete, yellow card numbers are met and not exceeded, and jumps are working, in conjunction with the Production Manager
• Supervise and implement safety protocols for our all of touring productions
• Serves as a technical expert for Troika Entertainment on issues as they arise
• Travel to shows for supervision, oversight and recommendations is required
• Other duties as assigned within the Production Department

Requirements:

The Associate Technical Director should have a bachelor’s degree in technical theater, and/or equivalent production experience. The ideal candidate will have a solid knowledge of all aspects of technical theater, excellent communication and paperwork skills and a minimum of 5 years of experience. The Associate Technical Director also needs to be proficient in AutoCad and all Microsoft Office programs. Touring experience is preferred.

SALARY

Competitive salary starting at $65K per year, based on experience.

LOCATION

Partial to fully-remote work will be considered. Travel is a requirement.
