Controller of Operations is responsible for providing financial reporting, planning, and analysis to the Director of Operations. In addition, the position is responsible for implementation, compliance and adherence to Company accounting and financial policies. Controller of Operations is responsible for the annual and interim financial objectives of the facility.
Areas of Focus
Controller of Operations works closely with Operations team and is active in cross-functional
teams. Controller of Operations will also act as the key liaison between plants and the Finance team at Trojan Battery Company Corporate. Additionally, Controller of Operations will involve analysis and special projects requiring detailed modeling to drive the decision-making of senior leadership.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for preparation of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts for the facility
- Prepares annual capital spending budget and spending requests
- Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget and forecast
- Assist and supports Director of Operations with the preparation and presentation of results at monthly Operations reviews
- Responsible for all daily production and related reporting
- Lead in identifying, recommending and implementing cost reduction opportunities and other process improvements
- Champion LEAN practices across the business VSAs and RIEs
- Responsible for LEAN reporting and monitoring against objectives/events for the facility
- Manage tax compliance and credits
- Work with Inventory Reporting and Control to verify all inventory adjustments are properly recorded and approved
- Support and assist Inventory Control and Reporting with cycle counts, spot audits
- Assist in annual physical inventory count
- Support any audits conducted by external audit firm at request of Corporate Controller
- Develop high proficiency in PLEX
- Partners with IT, Inventory Reporting and Control to ensure training others on PLEX
- Support monthly close process
- Must understand and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Company policies and procedures with emphasis on inventory
- Maintain integrity of accounting system and financial data through reviews of controls and procedures Responsible for understanding how transactions from all areas effect the financial statements
- Responsible for normal business operations, compliance, reporting and correspondence with federal government (IRS, Commerce Department, Labor department, etc.) and property, payroll and sales tax compliance requirements from state, county and city agencies
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of business experience and prior supervisory & leadership experience
- Bachelor’s degree with CPA and an MBA preferred
- Proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Must have experience with integrated ERP and budgeting tools
- Must learn PLEX and Adaptive Planning
- Good written and verbal communication skills are essential
