What are the responsibilities and job description for the Club Accountant position at Troon Fort Myers?
The Club Accountant will ensure that all assigned functions are performed accurately, on a timely basis, and according to Club and Troon standards. This position reports to the Property Controller.
Essential Duties:
- Maintain effective communication with all department team members to maintain a smooth, informed, and consistent atmosphere related to the Club’s Accounting policies and procedures.
- Focus on continually improving accounting processes.
- Maintain Club internal accounting policies and ensure documentation is accessible to departments.
- Maintain a daily bank reconciliation for the Club’s main operating account.
- Post activity and provide insights for the daily revenue report.
- Observe Club inventories on a monthly basis and prepare an inventory report detailing variances.
- Maintain accurate financial data during the month, including reconciling vendor statements.
- Prepare month-end financial package.
- Reconcile Club Managers credit card charges ensuring proper approval and documentation.
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare FL sales tax return.
- Assist with preparing documents for external auditors.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Controller.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required, CPA a plus.
- Three to five years related accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Computer literate with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Knowledge of Jonas Club Software is highly desirable.
- Understanding of GAAP guidelines (general accepted accounting principles) as they apply to the position.
- Strong understanding of Florida state tax regulations.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to understand financial analysis.
- Must have strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent customer services skills and an ability to respond to the needs and requests of coworkers and members.
- Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards, attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Must demonstrate initiative, with an ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
- This position requires a flexible schedule which may include evenings and occasional weekends to meet business demand.
Salary : $55,200 - $69,900
