Job Description
The Corporate Controller is a key leadership position within the finance department, responsible for managing the company's financial accounting, reporting, and control activities across multiple entities and brands. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial results, in compliance with legal, tax, and audit requirements. The Corporate Controller will work closely with the SVP of Finance, Senior Director of Finance, and Senior Financial Accountant and Analysts, to support strategic financial decisions and optimize profitability.
This role will report to the SVP of Finance and have two direct reports (Assistant Controller and Sr. Accountant).
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management and Reporting: Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure financial reports accurately reflect the company's performance and comply with GAAP and other applicable standards.
- P&L Management: Direct the P&L management for multiple entities and brands, analyzing brand profitability and making recommendations for financial optimization.
- Audit and Compliance: Manage the annual audit process, coordinating with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit. Maintain strong internal controls and processes to mitigate financial risk.
- Tax and Legal Structure: Collaborate with legal and tax advisors to develop and maintain a tax and legal structure that supports the company’s activities across multiple countries, addressing diverse tax laws and currency considerations.
- Process Improvement: Lead initiatives for technical advancements and process improvements to enhance department efficiency and accuracy. Implement best practices in financial management and reporting.
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop accounting team. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Strategic Planning: Support the SVP of Finance in strategic planning and financial analysis. Provide insights and recommendations to drive business growth and financial health.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree and an active CPA license required.
- Candidates should have a mix of practical experience, ideally including roles such as Controller, Assistant Controller, or 3-5 years of experience in public accounting. This experience is expected to have provided a comprehensive understanding of financial reporting, multiple brand management, cash cycle management, internal controls, and audit compliance.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, tax planning, and financial reporting requirements for multiple countries.
- Experience managing financial audits, internal controls, and compliance.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop staff.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with senior management, external partners, and cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems, with a keen interest in leveraging technology to improve financial operations.
