Technical Designer

True Religion is looking for a seasoned Technical Designer who is responsible for the on-time development of Men’s non-denim tops and bottoms, ensuring products meet company standards for aesthetic, fit, cost, and quality. The role includes generating clear detailed fit comments to vendors, managing the technical design workflow for the category. You will be working closely with our design, product development, and production departments.

What You'll Do:

  • Ensure overall fit consistency and provide fit approvals to overseas factories.
  • Use technical knowledge to maintain fit intent, balance and construction across all categories.
  • Work closely with design and product development & production to ensure that designs are translated correctly, keeping size and fit consistent.
  • Analyze garments and patterns to determine compliance of spec, construction, and fit
  • Create technical fit comments, advise construction details, and clearly communicate the status and direction of each style to vendors
  • Review production, quality, and fit issues: problem solve and make recommendations that help maintain brand integrity.
  • Maintain WIP report and workflow.
  • Work closely with the Senior Technical Design Director to develop and maintain standards and Fit Blocks.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with cross functional partners.
  • Develop partnerships with all vendors.
  • Join the cross-functional teams in all pass-off meetings to make sure that all garment specifications are communicated effectively
  • Set up tracking reports for all sample approvals, spec changes, etc.
  • Lead all pattern correction sketching and maintain updated garment details in the Full Circle (PLM).


SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 years of experience in Knit, woven adult tops/ bottoms and outerwear in technical Design/Product Development.
  • Menswear experience is a plus.
  • Mastery in fit and pattern correction: in-depth knowledge of denim construction manufacturing methods and grading.
  • Expertise in understanding physical fit; evaluation of body size, shape, and the relationship of cloth denim on the target body.
  • Leading fit sessions and communicate fit corrections and pattern changes with factories from prototype through production.
  • Able to proactively troubleshoot and utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate a solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and product development lifecycle.
  • Self-motivated and can work in a fast-paced, result-oriented team environment.
  • Superior organizational skills and excellent communication skills; team oriented; highly detail oriented and meticulous.
  • Extreme attention to detail with outstanding follow-through and the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, and work independently under supervision.
  • Fast acting and capable of adapting quickly to change.
  • Proficient use of Adobe Illustrator, MS Office, Word, and Excel; Knowledge of PLM and patternmaking systems (Accumark) is a plus.
  • Experience working with overseas factories.
  • BA or BS preferred.
