We are seeking a skilled and experienced Land Surveyor specializing in Construction Layout to join our team in North Carolina. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in land surveying with a focus on NCDOT construction, residential and commercial projects. This position plays a vital role in ensuring accurate site measurements, existing conditions verification and layout for civil construction activities.
Responsibilities:
Perform Construction Staking:
- Design Storm Drainage systems utilizing provided NCDOT roadway plans for submittal and approval prior to field layout.
- Stake wet utilities, clearing limits, roadway alignments, slope stakes and finish grades including concrete and asphalt paving.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to coordinate layout activities effectively.
Boundary Surveys:
- Conduct boundary surveys to establish property lines, easements, and right-of-ways.
- Prepare survey reports, plats, and legal descriptions in compliance with state regulations and industry standards.
- Resolve boundary-related issues and discrepancies as needed.
Topographic Surveys:
- Conduct topographic surveys to gather data on elevation, contours, and existing features of the land.
- Generate detailed maps and reports to support site design and development processes.
- Utilize surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and drones to collect accurate data.
Construction Site Monitoring:
- Monitor construction progress and verify that work is performed in accordance with approved plans.
- Provide on-site guidance to construction crews regarding layout and surveying requirements.
- Identify and address any discrepancies or issues that may affect project quality or timelines.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of survey data, field notes, and project documentation.
- Produce as-built surveys and final reports to document completed construction work.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and industry best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or relative experience.
- Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in the state of North Carolina.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in land surveying, with a focus on NCDOT construction layout.
- Proficiency in using surveying instruments, CAD software, and GPS technology.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of local regulations, surveying standards, and extensive familiarity with the NCDOT Survey Manual and associated procedures.
