Purpose of the Job

The Product Manager is a key member of the Product Strategy & Development team and is responsible for an assigned group of products services. The manager works across the enterprise as the subject matter expert (SME) for their assigned products. They set key performance indicators, continually monitor product performance, to include usage, adoption, and profitability in order to take action to maximize results. The manager researches and recommends new products to drive growth, create a competitive advantage in the market, and satisfy members. The Product Manager will help create exceptional member experiences across delivery channels.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for assigned products, services and related processes.
  • Understands the product needs of our members and prospects and works with stakeholders to build and deliver product improvements as well as new products.
  • Partners with the Data Analysts team to gather and interpret data in order to create meaningful product insights, develop key performance indicators, and provide routine updates and product enhancement recommendations to senior leadership
  • Develops relationships with external solution providers and internal business and technology stakeholders to assist in creating and maintaining the product roadmap.
  • Successfully leads department and corporate level projects by staying organized, aligning resources, challenging the status quo and driving for results.
  • Develops key documents needed at each phase of the product life cycle such as, product guides, learn shops, library documents and technical procedures.
  • Identifies key issues, risks, gaps or problems and engages the appropriate stakeholders to ensure awareness and seek assistance in resolution while maintaining ownership of the outcome when applicable.
  • Collaborates with operational stakeholders to improve existing processes and implements new processes to address product pain points. Creates an environment that fosters creative and sustainable solutions.
  • Manages project scope, budget and task allocation to assure the project is completed on time and within budget.
  • Responsible for necessary testing and QA as it relates to deposit product and service creation and optimization. Ensures a successful member experience aligned to our mission and business plan objectives at product launch.
  • Prepares periodic status reports to senior management relative to established timelines, budgets and expected results within assigned projects.
  • Develops meeting agendas for internal and external meetings, facilitates project and team meetings and captures key discussion points in detailed meeting minutes.
  • Collaborates with legal and compliance in the development of product specifications and disclosures.
  • Provides timely and accurate reporting on assigned product performance to senior leadership.
  • Partners closely with the marketing department to drive product adoption and engagement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have ability to conduct thorough research into existing as well as new products and services
  • Must be a self-starter who uses critical thinking skills to assess current and future state product solutions
  • Must have moderate technical knowledge of current systems, software, protocols and standards
  • Must be familiar with general accounting practices and an ability to interpret financial information
  • Must have product knowledge in the financial industry and have experience managing small to medium size projects with a proven ability to implement solutions that transition smoothly to daily operations
  • Must have demonstrated ability of managing and prioritizing a diverse set of projects, concurrently
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required, with the ability to research issues, summarize findings, and make sound recommendations
  • Must have ability to understand business processes within the credit union, as well as understanding the underlying technologies supporting those business processes
  • Must be adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals
  • Must have strong conceptual skills to apply learned knowledge to a variety of situations
  • Must have the ability to work with large sets of data to create meaningful insights for product performance management and product decision making
  • Must have superior communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Must have superior interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible, compassionate and confident
  • Must have the ability to develop and maintain relationships, internally and with vendors, and the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse and cross-functional teams
  • Must have knowledge in the use of MS Visio, Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
  • Must possess the leadership skills necessary to prepare for and facilitate meetings with all levels within the organization as well as vendors and references
  • Must have excellent time management skills and a proactive approach to completing work
  • Must have ability to grasp new concepts, plan work and execute projects in a fast paced environment
  • Must possess the ability to work consultatively to maximize the successful implementation of priorities
  • Must be detail oriented and have a high sense of accountability
  • Must be able to complete assignments with a minimal level of supervision
  • Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant's members, both internal and external

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for moderate periods of time and use a computer
  • Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds

Education and Background

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum three years' experience selling, developing or managing deposit products and services required
  • Minimum two years of project management experience
  • Must have intermediate to advanced MS excel experience
  • Minimum of five years' experience required in the financial industry
