SUBJECT: Bilingual Literacy Specialist (Spanish/English) This position will support native English and native Spanish speakers as they develop and strengthen literacy skills in a second language. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Deliver individual and small group instructional (in-class and out-of-class) as directed by the teacher for students requiring literacy support. 2. In consultation with the teacher, utilize data analysis to co-develop interventions that would support biliteracy for students in need. 3. Follow teacher's lesson plan and support in the classroom as teachers implement new literacy practices into their classrooms, by modeling and engaging in collaborative conversations and supporting students' individual needs. 4. Participate in district-wide meetings, building-level meetings, and in-service activities as directed. 5. Actively participate in student-centered meetings to inform on student's progress. 6. Advise the teacher on materials necessary to carry out the instructional program. 7. Develop and implement, at the direction of the supervisor, parent involvement activities. 8. Collaborate with parents for the purpose of planning and sharing teachers' recommendations for literacy services for students. 9. Responsible for assuring equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, religion, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, homelessness, or disability. 10. Perform any and all additional duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university 2. MA DESE license in Spanish PK-6 with the SEI endorsement 3. Spanish/English proficiency required 4. A minimum of three years of experience in a bilingual/ESL classroom either as a teacher, instructional assistant, or tutor PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Evidence of continuous literacy-focused professional development 2. Knowledge of scientifically based research in literacy, principles of effective literacy instruction and use of assessment in literacy instruction 3. Successful work experience at the primary level 4. Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs 5. Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese or an African Language.
