For School Year 2023-2024 189-Work Day Calendar Salary: $50,790 (Actual Salary will be based on skills, competencies, and like experience) Job Summary: Harrison School District Two is seeking a College and Career Counselor for Harrison and Sierra High School. This counselor will work toward equitable outcomes and engage meaningful student experience by equipping 9-12 grade students to be college and career ready. The counselor will lead staff, students, and parents through a variety of experiences to enhance college and career readiness, awareness of financial aid, resources, and scholarships throughout high school. This is a 3 year grant funded position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Implement college and career initiatives and the ICAP framework. Build capacity for a strategic plan to enhance college and career readiness in students, implement college and career initiatives and the ICAP framework. Meet with students to assist in planning high school and post-high school educational program and ensure all students have and use a four-year plan for his/her high school education. Assesses student knowledge, skills, and attitudes to determine areas in which students need. assistance for college and career readiness. Inform parents of students' activities in planning high school and post high school educational programs. Inform students, parents and staff about post-high school education and training opportunities, including entrance requirements, admission procedures, curricular offerings, costs, financial aid and related information. Develop awareness and mastery of Xello (on-line platform) for ICAP and college and career readiness opportunities. Assist students and parents in processing applications for admission and financial aid opportunities as necessary. Plan and carry out appropriate activities and instructional programs that will help students achieve program goals and demonstrate desired competencies. Provide appropriate group and/or individual counseling as necessary for students to achieve program goals and demonstrate competencies. Facilitate FAFSA and scholarship information and events. Provide appropriate group and/or individual counseling or teaching as necessary for students to achieve ICAP goals and demonstrate competencies. Provide students and parents with information about scholarships and financial aid that is available to support students; plan for post-high school education and training. Collect data for grant reporting. Collaborate with high school counseling office to create college and career ready students. Partner with school programs and local organizations such as colleges and workforce readiness to streamline the college and career process for students and parents. Developing strong professional relationships with college, military, and workforce organizations to ensure students have a wide variety of exposure to the college and workforce progress. Facilitate events and present college and career opportunities and serve as a liaison with college, military and business representatives wishing to have contact with students. Grant Reporting. Qualifications: Master's Degree in Counseling. Completion of a School Counseling program. Experience of college admissions process. Experience as a school counselor preferred. In-depth knowledge of content areas. Strong oral and written communication, English language, presentation/training, critical thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills. Knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations governing school systems and programs. Knowledge of classroom management and conflict resolution. Knowledge of and experience in Professional Learning Communities. Colorado Special Services License with K-12 Counselor endorsement. Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required. Note: Each college transcript shall be authentic, original or photocopy, bearing the embossed seal of the institution, the signature of the registrar, and including descriptive titles, course numbers, credits, and grades for each course listed and degrees earned, if any. For the purpose of these Rules, credits shall be in semester hours or may be interpreted as meaning the equivalent in quarter, trimester, unit or term.
