Qualifications
- School nurse certification and experience
- Demonstrated successful nursing and/or leadership experience
- Strong skills in the areas of communication, organization, and technology
- Advanced degree and/or certifications in nursing preferred
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
Job Goal

Performance Responsibilities
- Provide district administration with nurse/health related information on a variety of issues by serving as a liaison between and among administration and nurses
- Serve as a resource for nurses in writing IEP health evaluations; provide guidance and support on various nursing issues concerning students with individual needs
- Provide leadership for and representation of school nurses in each building, and plan and facilitate monthly nurses' meetings
- Plan, facilitate, coordinate and lead the annual or specialized training, professional development, and education of school nurses
- Oversee all aspects of new nurse, substitute nurse, and health-aide orientation and induction with human resources and schedule all of their necessary training
- Monitor and update the RN Substitute Reference Sheet and Nurse Coverage Flowchart
- Provide nurse coverage for schools without substitute nurses when required
- Determine appropriate nurse and health aide substitute coverage when required
- Serve as the special education contact for preschool AEA teams, answer questions about student health, and serve as the nursing contact regarding Medicaid
- Coordinate the procurement of summer school/ESY nurses and the development of their work schedules.\
- Manage any budget or procurement needs of school nurses
- Monitor and update nursing policies, procedures, web-based communications/information, and handbooks
- Coordinate any/all aspects of district health clinics or health initiatives
- Serve on the following committees: UEN nurses' group, district safety/security, district wellness, student wellness/nutrition, PD steering committee, district mental health, and special education advisory
