Support the district's implementation of highly effective strategies designed to increase student achievement.
Provide behavior and academic coaching and mentoring designed to build teaching capacity and to retain highly qualified special education classroom teachers.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
SpecialKnowledge/Skills:
Thorough knowledge of curriculum and instructional methodologies
Thorough knowledge of Texas curriculum standards
Thorough knowledge of Texas Assessment system for special education
Thorough knowledge of effective behavior strategies to meet the needs of special education students
Knowledge and understanding of learning styles and methods
Excellent organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
5 years of effective teaching in appropriate disciplines
Experience in facilitating Professional Development preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support Provide coaching, modeling and mentoring at the campus level to ensure a high-quality education that will enable all children to meet the state's student performancestandards. Ensure that students who experience difficulty mastering the proficient or advanced levels of academic achievement standards shall be provided with effective, timely additional assistance. Plan and lead professional development sessions focused on content knowledge in one or more of the core academic subjects that the teachers teach. Improve teaching practices and student academic achievement by providing staff development, coaching and mentoring focused on: effective instructional strategies, methods, and skills, and the use of challenging state academic content standards and student academic achievement standards in preparing students for the State assessments. Plan and provide professional development activities that: Involve collaborative groups of teachers and administrators Address the needs of students with different learning styles, particularly students with disabilities, student with special needs. Focus on identifying, providing and supporting appropriate interventions to assist students in at-risk situations. 6. Trin and assist tachers in using data and assessments to improve classroom practice and learning.
Student Management Model and provide training focused on instructional strategies designed to increase student engagement and achievement. Assist campus personnel in implementing positive behavior support strategies.
ParentalInvolvement Provide assistance to parents of children served by the school in understanding such topics as the state's academic content standards and state student academic achievement standards, state and local academic assessments, and how to monitor a child's progress and work with educators to improve the achievement of their children Provide materials and training to help parents work with their children to improve their children's achievement, such as literacy training and using technology, as appropriate, to foster parental involvement. Other Collaborate with peers and actively participate in district-wide PLCs Communicate and provide feedback to teachers, campus leaders, peers and district leaders. Represent the school and district in activities involving all campuses, institutions, agencies, and professional or community groups. Other duties as assigned by administrator.
