Summary:
- The purpose of this position is to instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the students shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, sportsmanship and service to others.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- CPR certification
- Previous successful coaching experience
- Ability to organize and supervise all levels of a sport program
- Commitment to professional growth
- Ability to accept responsibilities outside the team as they relate to the school and community
- Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To):
- Complies with school and MIAA policies and regulations
- Complies with school and Conference/League policies and regulations
- Works cooperatively with the school staff
- Relates positively to parents and other community representatives
- Completes required records and reports with promptness and accuracy
- Assumes responsibility for care of equipment and facilities
- Assumes responsibility for a safe environment for student athletes
- Models positive behaviors, especially with regard to sportsmanship and the alcohol, tobacco and drug rules
- Delegates staff assignments to assistant coaches
- Develops and organizes practice program
- Evaluates assistant coaches and playing personnel
- Plans and develops game responsibilities
- Conducts and analyzes scouting reports
- Assists student athletes in college advancement
- Maintains and inventories all equipment and supplies
- Acts as liaison person in relating the athletic program to the staff, administration, general public, and local news media
- Consistent, reliable and punctual attendance is essential for supervision and instruction of the students
- Responsible for implementing "other job related duties" as needed.

- Majority of work is performed in a school/classroom environment. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
- While performing the duties of this job, the coach is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The teacher is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building.
