HOURS: Monday through Friday, 6.5 hours per day plus a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch
COMPENSATION: $17.05 - $19.24 per hour, based on experience Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee and the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional Secretaries and Assistants Association located on the DY website.

SUMMARY: Supports students, which may include, but not limited to, students with: low-incidence disabilities, autism, social-emotional needs, and behavioral concerns. Support may occur in an early education setting, inclusion setting, substantially separate classroom or home. This may be 1:1 or in a small group.

The District consists of six schools within two towns which are all governed by one school committee consisting of seven members. Four of the members represent the Town of Yarmouth and three of the members represent the Town of Dennis. We serve over three thousand five hundred students from Pre-school level through Grade Twelve and employ almost 600 permanent employees.

We offer many electives including technology classes, a strong art program, and a first class music program. Students can balance classroom academics with work-based learning internships in the community so they can see how their knowledge is put into use in a real world setting. - Support and assist in the accommodation of the educational, behavioral and social/emotional needs of students with unique learning challenges.
- Implements and/or adapts modifications and accommodations to the environment or curricular materials as directed by the special education teacher/liaison, classroom teacher or related services provider.
- Collects data regarding students' goals and/or objectives as directed by licensed staff.
- Supports the behavioral/social-emotional needs of children by utilizing pro-active, pro-social problem solving skills.
- Foster student independence while supporting individual needs.
- Responsible for carrying out tasks that allow students to meet their IEP goals and appropriately function in the educational setting. Tasks may include assisting with behavior, medical, social, academic or self-help interventions.
- Maintain proper confidentiality of student records.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be highly qualified.
- Associate's degree, 2 years of college or passing score on the ParaPro test.
- Knowledge of child development (intellectual, social/emotional, and physical) and 12 months experience working with students with special needs is desirable.
- CPR, First Aid Certification desirable.
- Participate in annual trainings, for blood borne pathogens, universal precautions, 51A, bullying, epi-pen, etc.
