Paraprofessional Job Description
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Assist classroom teacher in providing developmentally appropriate activities for students by implementing concrete learning activities that meet the varied developmental needs to students with special needs.
- Assist classroom teacher in getting students into and out of the buildings and classrooms. This may include lifting and carrying of students.
- Assist teacher during activities such as field trips, and emergency drills.
- Assist teacher with classroom routines such as a snack, clean-up, bathroom and other similar activities.
- Assist teacher in maintaining a healthy and safe environment for children and perform such other tasks and assume responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
- For HEALTH positions, only: position will include assistsance with feeding, changing diapers and toileting children.
Requirements
- Successfully passed the Paraprofessional test, OR 48 college credits or more, OR a Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
- Experience with the appropriate age group.
