What you will be doing:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges, as well as those experiencing personal or family difficulties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' social and emotional needs, strengths, and areas for intervention
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to create and implement intervention strategies to improve students' social and emotional functioning
- Support the implementation of behavior management plans and other interventions in the classroom and school environment
- Work with students and families to address issues related to attendance, truancy, and home-school communication
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans for students with special needs
- Help identify and connect students and families with appropriate community resources, such as mental health services, housing assistance, and social service programs
- Provide crisis intervention and support during emergencies or critical situations involving students or families
- Promote social-emotional learning and character development initiatives within the school community
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and collaborate with other school staff to address student needs holistically
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of services provided and student progress
- Keep up-to-date with current research and best practices in school social work and related fields
- Collaborate with school staff and parents to create a safe and inclusive school climate that fosters positive relationships and academic success
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program
- Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Illinois
- Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting is preferred
- Strong understanding of social-emotional development and the impact of family dynamics on student well-being
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, parents, teachers, and community members
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines for professional practice
