What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraprofessional - High School position at TrulyHired?
Under the guidance of the Special Education teacher, the paraprofessional will aid students in meeting their individualized education program (IEP) goals in areas such as education, communication, emotional, and physical needs. The paraprofessional will work with students individually and in small groups on these goal areas, along with additional goals set by speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists and/or other professionals working with students.
Lead and/or support direct instruction to students individually, in small groups, and in inclusion settings.
Monitor and assist students as needed in their daily routines across classroom activities and/or settings.
Assist in collecting data for behavioral or academic progress.
Communicate with all team members in an appropriate manner regarding student progress and/or concerns.
Assist individual students as necessary to follow routines, follow directions, follow an individual schedule, and/or complete tasks.
Create materials as time allows and directed by the Special Education teacher.
Communicate effectively and with a professional manner with general education staff when assigned.
Assist students in the general education classroom with note taking, assignment completion, organization; and socializing.
