PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for collaborating with staff to improve the integrity and fidelity of implementation of cohesive, district-wide, elementary curriculum frameworks, instructional strategies, and assessments as they relate to the GADOE K-5 Science standards. This position will work with district staff on the development of the district's short, medium, and long-term K-5 Science goals. Using state and local policies and practices regarding science and literacy, this position will lead the development of structured and strategy-based curriculum resources and continuous staff professional development for the implementation of highly effective Science practices that support literacy instruction. This position will monitor strategic goals and implementation of strategies toward overall Science improvement in grades K-5.

REQUIREMENTS:
Educational Level: Master's degree from an accredited college or university.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
To be accountable for curriculum development in science throughout the district schools for grades K-5. To be accountable for the standards of teaching and learning in science throughout the district schools for grades K-5. Effectively lead, develop, and enhance the classroom practice of teaching staff and teaching assistants. Lead, manage, and develop science for grades K-5. Use national, local, and school management data to monitor standards achievement across the schools in science. Monitor the progress made towards achieving targets and use this information to create strategic plans for future growth/development. Collaborate with staff on short, medium, and long-term planning to develop science in relation to: curriculum, resources, continuous professional development of staff, goals of the district, including its policies and practices regarding science and challenging targets for improvement. Plan and monitor coverage, continuity, and progression in science for grades K-5. Work collaboratively with science specialist for grades 6-12 to plan for a continuous, seamless development of science curriculum for standards K-12. Evaluate the curriculum, teaching, and learning of science in the schools through monitoring activities including, but not limited to:

Incumbents will receive an annual contract. The work calendar will be 229 days. Salary will be determined based on highest level of certification and allowable experience. Exempt.

REQUIREMENTS:
Educational Level: Master's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience, Skill, and Certification:
- Must have clear-renewable certification in Elementary Education.
- At least five (5) years of successful classroom teaching in experience in K-5 Science with evidence of practices to support literacy.
- At least two (2) years of Academic Coach or teacher leader/master teacher experience.
- Evidence of demonstrated knowledge and experience with implementation of standards- based curriculum, instruction and assessment in K-5 Science.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and teacher professional learning.
- Experience in evaluating data and developing strategic plans based on data analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications, presentation, and technology skills.
- Experience in training teachers and providing professional learning for teachers in implementing researched based instructional strategies in the area of K-5 science which also support literacy instruction.
- Valid driver's license

- Successful experience planning curriculum and delivering professional development.
