Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of full time employment in the welding field
- Valid Adult Education License in related field - renew yearly
- Hold and maintain education/certifications/qualifications specific to program/course
- Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Ensure the safety of students
- Teach and evaluate the students using sound instructional practices
- Effectively manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a good learning environment
- Prepare clear and timely lesson plans, write course description, develop curriculum and create program/course syllabi
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records and student confidentiality required
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities, and keep a current inventory, following replacement procedures as needed
- Interact in a positive manner with staff and students/adhere to employee handbook guidelines
- Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
- Attend meetings and in-services as required
- Track daily student attendance (including days missed and makeup days)
- Provide ideas for improving program curriculum to administration
- Assist students in their job search activities
- Initiate paperwork and/or schedule students to sit for state and national credentialing examinations
- Assist in screening of applicants for enrollment
- Make all efforts possible to retain students in the program and coordinate student assistance with Success Coaches
- Maintain an advisory committee and participate in at least two advisory committee meetings per year
- Stay current with industry standards and update credentials as needed and as relates to program compliance and instruction
- Complete all required paperwork to maintain or achieve program certification/accreditation
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
- Assist in the determination of appropriate curriculum, materials, supplies, and texts in cooperation with the administration
- Attend professional growth seminars, workshops, etc., to keep current on relevant issues
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee
- Established relationships with area employers in the welding industry
