TITLE OF JOB: Community Schools Program Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, Experience working with Community Schools, and five years of experience working with families, communities or schools; Experience working with diverse populations; Ability to meet deadlines, act as project manager for multiple projects and coordinate the work of others; Knowledge in effective methods of verbal and written communication with the public; Proficiency with current MS Windows and Microsoft Office Applications- word processing, PowerPoint, database and spreadsheet software
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Federal Programs
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Facilitates the school’s Community School Council to ensure representation of the school and community. The Community School Council (per the statute - Site Based Leadership Team) is an interdisciplinary, school-based leadership team that includes the school principal, the community schools coordinator, teachers, other school employees, families, community partners, tribal partners, non-profit organizations, unions, and neighboring community residents that guide collaborative planning, implementation and oversight (school/district staff membership does not outweigh the membership of the stakeholders).
- Working with the school and district leadership, the consultant, and the District CS Team to discuss implementation of CS objectives.
- Collaborate and advise the principal on how to integrate partners and community members into school governance structures (Leadership Teams, CS School Based Team, SAT/MLSS Team, Behavioral Health Team)
- Implement a menu of data informed, high-quality programs and services, including material assistance and interventions, targeted at at-risk and chronically absent students in adherence with the community school framework which includes but is not limited to: expanded and enriched learning opportunities; integrated student supports (health and basic needs);’ active family and community engagement (leadership, adult education, workforce development, family programming), and; collaborative leadership (principal, CS Coordinator Family and Student Engagement Coordinator, Social Worker, School Psychologist, and Community School Council).
- Ensure the alignment and integration of all programming, including out of school time programming and curricula, with the school’s vision, and improvement goals.
- Support the research/evaluation of the community school by coordinating the collection of data, timely submission of reports and responses as required by the Lead Partner Agency.
- Participate in professional development and capacity-building activities including site and community-based trainings, network meetings and study visits. Include the Community School Council as needed or required.
- Nurture shared ownership of the community school framework among school staff and community partners, including parents, family members and volunteers as required by the Lead Partner and principal.
- Conduct annual needs and assets assessment and analyze data to inform outreach to providers to make available relevant services.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of school district policies and procedures.
- Gather data of needs and interests to facilitate gap analysis of existing programs/services.
- Assist in identifying community organizations, social services agencies, businesses, and individuals who might contribute to the development of the community school at identified sites.
- Contact, interview, and recruit potential community school partners to actively participate and work cooperatively with identified school sites.
- Conducts grants and funding research and writes proposals to local, state, and national funders to continue Community Schools Implementation at both schools for future school years,
- Collaborate with the with school-based leaders and HSHS Family and Student Engagement Coordinator to increase parent engagement and provide family nights and trainings
- Increase parent involvement in the school’s PTO/PAC - Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) or Parent Advisory Council (PAC) parent group.
- Conducts outreach in collaboration with school leadership and the HSHS Family and Student Engagement Coordinator to increase family engagement, including conducting home visits.
- Trains volunteers, school staff and/or families on family engagement best practices designed to: -enhance student success, -respond appropriately to the needs and concerns of families, -conduct informal discussions at school sites, and -implement activities that connect families with teachers.
- Develop partnerships with community-based providers and connect students and families with available services, as well as fostering a positive and healthy school climate.
DUTIES: In addition to the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must perform the following duties:
- Complies with state-approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations.
- Articulates and facilitates the implementation of the mission and values of the Truth or Consequences Municipal School District.
- Safeguards confidentiality of privileged information.
- Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, District policy and administrative regulations.
- Shares the responsibility for the supervision and care of District inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment and supplies, and reports safety hazards promptly.
- Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with employees, community, and other professionals.
- Maintains professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities, and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Attends and/or conducts staff meetings, attends in on Community Schools HSHS Team, and participates on committees within area of responsibility.
REQUIRED TCMSD PRE-EMPLOYMENT AND OTHER EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Satisfactory completion of criminal background verification.
- Valid Driver's license and insured transportation.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written-Bilingual Preferred.
- Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects.
- Computer and basic mathematics skills.
- Knowledge of the needs of youth and diverse ethnic populations.
- Knowledge of Sierra County community
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary is established by salary schedule. IMPORTANT: This position is dependent on finalized grant funding.
