Job Description: Health and Safety & compliance specialist
Position Overview: We are seeking a meticulous and dynamic Health and Safety and compliance engineer or specialist.
This role covers two categories of responsibilities first regarding health and safety, and second is regarding compliance with ITAR and CMMC security compliance requirements, for which training and support would be provided.
Regarding health and safety, the individual is responsible to build upon existing safety processes, establish, improve and oversee our organization’s health and safety protocols and practices across multiple plants in the US, Canada, and Mexico. The individual would be responsible to establish a culture of safety and conduct regular trainings towards the objective of having the whole team aware and respectful of all safety hazard and safe practices.
In the domain of defense compliances (e.g. ITAR, CMMS). This role is responsible for understanding, working with consultant and internal stakeholders and lead the process to establish the internal guidelines, ensure best practices, trainings, and record keeping. Training and support from consultants would be available.
This role requires leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders. Up to 30% travel to different sites across north America is expected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance with legal and defense certifications:
- Ensure compliance with requirements of ITAR, CMMS and other legal or defense certifications
- Lead the development and enforcement of ITAR and CMMS guidelines
- Safety Policies and Procedures:
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and risks.
- Recommend and implement improvements in processes and equipment to enhance safety.
- Training and Education:
- Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for employees at all levels.
- Promote safety awareness through campaigns, training sessions, and workshops.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety training initiatives.
- Incident Management:
- Respond to and investigate workplace accidents, incidents, or near misses.
- Analyze root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain incident reporting systems and ensure timely reporting to regulatory agencies as required.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay updated on local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
- Maintain records and documentation related to regulatory requirements.
- Stay current on industry best practices and regulatory requirements related to EHS (Environmental Health and Safety)
- Safety Culture and Communication:
- Foster a positive safety culture throughout the organization.
- Communicate safety policies, initiatives, and updates to all employees.
- Encourage employee participation and feedback in safety-related matters.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks.
- Collaborate with departments to implement risk control measures.
- Monitor trends and proactively address emerging safety issues.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
- Conduct drills and exercises to test emergency preparedness.
- Ensure adequate provision of safety equipment and resources for emergencies.
