New York, NY Summary:
This role is part of the Financial Advisor Monitoring and Registration Department. This team supports the Risk and Compliance divisions with tools and applications to assist them with their task of monitoring Financial Advisor's compliance with the firm's policies and procedures. As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for various support activities around our groups data, including, but not limited to data verification, pattern discovery, data quality verification, data migration support and analytical insights. The ideal candidate should have the skills listed below and be a self-driven, dedicated individual who works well in a team and thinks and acts strategically. When faced with a problem, the candidate should be able to ask questions and leverage the skills and expertise of those around them. They would work well as individual in an exploratory manner to learn and understand the data and its flows.
Key Responsibilities: - Analyze data sets to determine data gaps and work with cross functional teams to bridge the gap - Liaise with the business analysis team to understand the data requirements - Support the team with data analysis, such as data source discovery, data usage viability and data sourcing - Coordinate data sourcing with upstream data teams - Partner with team on testing with data verification, completeness, and data quality checks. - Participate in data driven initiatives, such as data linage, data quality checks, data migration Skills Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar - Minimum 9 years of experience in global organizations as a Data Analyst. - Proficiency in Data Analysis, with working experience in SQL and relational databases - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; as well as work in an international team setting. - Have strong reasoning skills, logical deduction and apply to data analysis - Collaborate effectively across a variety of IT and Business groups, across regions and roles. - Present and be able to tell a story with the data analysis/reporting - Self-motivated individual and creative thinker who will take ownership of tasks assigned. - Ability to problem solve and have creative solutions in challenging environments - Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high energy, demanding and team-orientated environment -Knowledge of domain specific data and enterprise data -Knowledge of Autosys, Unix commands and scripting -Knowledge of Data Quality controls & implementation of DQ -Knowledge and experience in Agile development methodology (scrum preferred) -Extensive experience documenting processes, workflows and technical specifications -Sound knowledge in RDBMS, SQL Queries, Indexes, Keys and Tables considering platforms, such as Apache Hadoop, Oracle, MySQL, HiveQL, and Microsoft SQL -Experience in data integration, conversion and migration -Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, Word) -Experience with ETL tools (preferably Informatica) with the ability to develop ETL design specifications and understand from code what existing ETLs do - Good customer service skills. Ability to deal with difficult situations gracefully. - SQL querying building, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Experience using API and SoupUI - Experience working in medium to large-scale development projects. - Knowledge of trades data, positions data, reference data. - Experience in trade lifecycles and asset classes, Equity, Fixed Income, Options, Futures - Understanding of Risk/Compliance surveillance platforms (Actimize, MANTAS, Sungard) and their models, Wash trades, Marking the Open/Close, Spoofing, Insider Trading, etc.
