Job DescriptionThe Web-Portal Developer is responsible for helping maintain and improve the TSTC website and TSTC Portal statewide. Working in conjunction with the IT department and other internal clients. The Web-Portal Developer helps ensure the site is functioning properly, is creatively and aesthetically user-friendly and is available to all users both internally and externally.Essential Functions:
- Consistently demonstrate the four Core Company Values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity as an essential component of the job description and as a standard of individual performance
- Maintains the TSTC website and portal and all its components for all users and helps troubleshoots potential problems with web servers and software.
- Coordinates, designs web and portal pages with assistance from the designers to keep in line with branding guidelines as needed to keep the sites fresh and up to date.
- Generates, revises and corrects web and portal pages within branding style and guidelines.
- Utilizes scripting languages such as HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, .NET, C#, JQuery for SharePoint to create and modify page layouts and content on web pages using the TSTC CMS or any other CMS used for website and portal.
- Accepts web assignments through WorkZone, any project management system, directly via email and meets with clients and designers to agree on web page formatting and design using the branding guidelines.
- Fixes broken links, formats PDFs for disabled user access and manages embedded file types and sizes to keep web page loading times to a minimum. Complies with all accessibility requirements.
- Performs usability and accessibility testing utilizing different browsers and devices such as mobile, tablet, and phone formats to ensure all users can access the website and portal effectively.
- Utilizes add-on applications such as ISSUU, YouTube, Google Forms and other applications to enhance the TSTC website and portal user experience.
- Provide input into campus policies and procedures related to website and internet usage.
Education:
- Associate's degree in relevant field. Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred. Additional related verifiable work experience (website and portal authoring, testing and maintenance) may be accepted in lieu of degree.
Experience:
- At least 8 years of experience in Front-End development preferred. Work experience in related industrial or educational area (focus of work experience should be web and portal authoring, programming, testing, etc.) with proficiency in use of internet navigators and appropriate languages.
- Experience in Shopify development and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) development and WordPress.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skills should include HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, .NET, C#, JQuery for SharePoint and working knowledge of CMS (Content Management Systems). Knowledge in integrating data from various back-end services and databases.
- Must have the ability to be innovative in design and layout of the website and portal, from concept all the way to completion, from the bottom up, fashioning everything from the homepage to site layout and function. Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization process.
- Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines, budgets and daily business. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stay abreast of technological changes.
