Position: MRAP Platform Support
Location: Langley AFB, Hampton, Virginia

MRAP Platform Support is responsible for the following:

  • Analyze fleet metrics and performance. Provide corrective actions and/or recommended solutions through the MRAP WST Government Lead/COR to the Division/Directorate leadership to improve overall health of the fleet.
  • Assist with the management of approximately 754 MRAPs (376 M-ATVs, 215 Cougars and 163 MaxxPro LWB) at multiple CONUS and OCONUS locations around the globe. Collaborate with the AFLCMC/WNZ MRAP System Sustainment Manager (SSM) office on the overall life cycle sustainment support required for the AF MRAP Program.
  • Prioritize platform initiatives to ensure efficient use of available funds to support enduring training, storage and operational requirements for the MRAP weapon systems.
  • Advise field level units with maintenance and supply guidance. Elevate platform issues requiring engineering or depot support to the MRAP SSM for resolution.
  • When issued by the MRAP SSM, coordinate and track completion of Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs), One Time Inspections (OTIs), safety of use messages (SOUMs), maintenance advisory messages (MAMs), and quality deficiency reports (QDRs)with MAJCOMs, AFLCMC, and field units.
  • Coordinate with MRAP SSM to ensure all MRAP platform parts and associated MSE is properly cataloged for AF use and forecasted in terms of future funding requirements. Assist in the development of periodic maintenance inspections checklist for all MRAP platforms and onboard MSE.
  • Monitor weapon system status and develop long-range strategies to sustain MRAP fleet health (usage, inspection intervals, depot induction criteria, etc.). Monitor weapon system configuration and make recommendations to government as required.
  • Assist in the development of MRAP readiness metrics and executive summary standards for mission capability and reporting.
  • Identify capability shortfalls and assist in the completion of modification proposal documents (AF Form 1067s) and monitor AFLCMC engineering solutions to system shortfalls. Coordinate with functional users to ensure platform capabilities support enduring requirements.
  • Conduct Field Level Site Visits. Perform Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS), metrics reporting and FIAR accountability training as required, assess condition of assigned MRAPs and associated Mission Support Equipment (MSE), platform and MSE accountability, and use of IMDS. Brief unit leadership on results/findings. Document deficiencies, provide recommend corrective actions and follow-up until resolved.
  • Analyze limited technical inspection (LTI) workbook reports to determine overall asset condition and calculate total cost of major repairs to make disposition recommendations to the MRAP SSM.
  • Review battle damage and repair (BDAR) documents for the Air Force and develop recommendations for repair or battle loss decisions.
  • Collaborate with MRAP SSM on the review of depot repair Statements of Work (SOW). Provide recommended changes to the MRAP WST Government Lead/COR and MRAP SSM Government Program Manager for review and inclusion as required. Ensure planned repair activities meet program objectives and fielding timelines.
  • Assist with platform/MSE movements. Review prepared movement memorandums for completeness and accuracy prior to governments review and release.
  • Attend semi-annual MRAP Joint Capabilities Review meetings with sister services (Army and Marines) to leverage modification cost savings with quantity discounts/technical data commonality and ensure critical weapons systems interoperability during theater operations.
  • Assist in the development of work statements for TACOM and SPAWAR FSR CLS support contracts to provide sustainment support at CONUS and OCONUS locations for both the MRAP platform, associated MSE and Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS).
  • Collect and validate platform and MSE repair requests from field units requiring FSR support. Prepare memorandums for government release to supporting agency (TACOM and SPAWAR) requesting support from the CLS support contractor. Upon government approval, coordinate travel between field unit and CLS contractor as well as coordinate FSR support requirements (tools, equipment, shop space, etc.) required to conduct platform/MSE repairs.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Having a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the last six (6) years as a subject matter expert (SME) at a MAJCOM Headquarters (or equivalent) within Vehicle Management, Material Management or an Aircraft Weapon System Team (WST) is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. This experience and/or technical education can be satisfied via college transcript, training certificate or on the job experience.

Must possess excellent English language oral and written communication skills.

Must possess the ability to effectively present briefings to a full range of audiences to include senior military and civilian officials.

Must have Bachelor’s Degree or ten (10) years of Air Force weapon system or vehicle management experience.

Four (4) years’ experience within the last eight (8) years with Air Force aircraft or Air Force vehicle maintenance activities.

Four (4) years of experience within the last eight (8) years in developing/executing a monthly and weekly maintenance and operations schedules/plans is required.

Four (4) years of experience within the last eight (8) years with aircraft equipment forms and IMDS or vehicle forms and OLVIMs documentation to include IMDS/OLVIMS screens and Automated Records Check.

Four (4) years of experience within the last eight (8) years ensuring aircraft/vehicle status is properly reported and maintained IAW AFI 21-103, Equipment, Inventory, Utilization, and Reporting, AFI 24-302, Vehicle Management, AFI 21-101, Aircraft Maintenance, and all associated support directives.

Must possess an active Secret security clearance.
