Position Summary
The Scenic Art Charge Artist is a key creative team member who will work closely with the scenic designer, technical director and Scenic Art Supervisor to fully and successfully paint the scenery as designed for the production. This position is the main artist responsible for painting all scenic elements.
Essential Functions
Work with the Scenic Art Supervisor, designers, directors, and production management to maximize the artistic impact of financial resources. Evaluate designs, help create materials and labor estimates. Follow-up on applicable details or notes and communicate information to supervisors and staff as appropriate making suggestions and sharing ideas to solve problems, and facilitate changes.
Produce paint samples as needed and meet with the scenic art supervisor to go over all paint elevations and drawings.
Meet with the scenic designer, scenic art supervisor, technical director, Scene shop supervisor, prop master, and prop shop supervisor to discuss paint process for the production.
Educate and supervise production staff and volunteers during paint calls.
Uphold Tuacahn's production department policy and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Operate in a safe and professional manner at all times. Maintain a positive and collaborative attitude at all times
Additional assignments as required for all Tuacahn productions.
Qualifications
Knowledge and passion for live theater. Bachelor's degree in technical theatre and a minimum of 3 years' experience working as a Scenic Artist in a professional dance, music and theatre company
Diverse knowledge and skill in all aspects of theatrical painting and experience with a variety of faux finishes, cartooning, wood graining, color mixing, and related theory and practical skill.

Self-motivated, organized and detail oriented
Demonstrated leadership skills, experience working with designers and a strong understanding of other areas of production
Ability to work in an efficient and time sensitive environment.
Ability to manage crews in multiple spaces.
Ability to work occasional weekends and nights is a must.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
