What are the responsibilities and job description for the Creative Director position at Tufts Medicine?
The Creative Director will have oversight responsibility for Tufts Medicine health system brand identity in all forms of visual and creative communications and marketing. Oversees creation and directs design content, both internally and externally. Manages the quality, performance and adherence to the brand standards on behalf of Tufts Medicine health system and drives the future success of marketing and communications efforts.
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Chief Consumer Officer develop and ensure the brand, vision and strategy for the Tufts Medicine health system (this includes all present and future entities and departments).
- Manage and oversee a team of designers, developers, copywriters, production staff and project managers to ensure timely, error-free product and accountability for appropriate use of organizational resources.
- Oversee the development and creative for all marketing, recruitment and communications materials, including, but not limited to, video, photography, deign, advertising, promotions, patient education, internal communications, digital and web-based (social media and interactive) and corporate presentations.
- Manage and enforce the graphic standards policy to ensure brand image of the Tufts Medicine health system. Create a system for a brand approval process for external vendors and internal departments that provides feedback in a timely manner.
- Manage and direct creative strategy and vision for all freelance creative entities, including freelance designers and copywriters, agencies, photographers and videographers to ensure efficiency, alignment of resources and final product results.
- Work directly with web managers and or third-party web developers on creative/art direction and/or design of web-based creative content.
- Manage, collaborate and prioritize projects and workflows between all departments and third-party vendors.
- Identify and manage traffic and workflow systems to drive workflow efficiency.
- Oversee the documentation of the proof process, secure sign-off approvals and solicit print quotes, obtain photo consent forms in adherence to Tufts Medicine policies.
- Adhere to Marketing and Communications budget established to produce publications, materials and campaigns.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree preferred.
- 20 years of creative services and operations experience, including managing a team
- Has the knowledge and skills necessary to interact regularly with executives and clinical staff at the highest level of the institution.
- Superior written and oral communications skills
- Superior systems thinking skills and attention to detail
- Superior presentation skills and comfort with reporting out to senior leadership
- A strong understanding of brand development, the creative process and multichannel marketing concepts
- Mastery in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe XD, font management, Microsoft Office, and web-based software. Understanding of UX/UI, web development and video production. Must be willing to expand technical knowledge based on market trends.
- Has the knowledge and skills necessary to interact regularly with executives and clinical staff at the highest level of the institution.
