SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: The Systems Engineering Manager is responsible for growing a team of highly skilled cross functional engineers to meet overall business objectives in a highly technical and innovative environment. They will provide functional and technical direction to the team, while maturing the systems engineering team in their contributions to TUI as a business. Must be well versed in product lifecycles, requirements management, program planning and scoping, and capable of providing mentorship and guidance for electrical, software, aerospace, mechanical, or controls engineers performing systems engineering tasks at TUI.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the development and implementation of Systems engineering standards, with an emphasis on requirements management and traceability
- Drive excellence in all aspects of the system engineering, such as customer requirements, subsystem interactions and interfaces, control theory, and interdisciplinary communication
- Own the simulation strategy for core TUI technologies, and guide the technology roadmap to meet the evolving customer requirements.
- Provide direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing and developing new solutions, enhancements, and updates.
- Contribute to development on projects, programs, and products as part of TUIs roadmap as well as execution of existing missions
- Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated, and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.
- Communicate project status and escalate issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external development partners.
- Relentlessly and continuously seek out and implement improvements to the organization.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
- Minimum five years’ experience in systems engineering environment, including at least two years of management.
- Strong ability to understand complex systems, investigate and tackle challenging problems and work in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated experience in managing product development in a high reliability industry, Aerospace industry experience preferred
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience building a team from a small project-focused group into a scalable organization whose output and quality can be predicted with high confidence.
- Experience working within an ISO9000 or AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS).
- Experience with JIRA, or on an Agile scrum team.
- Experience in a small company, start-up, or growth transition environment.
- Experience with Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, APQP, or related processes
- Security clearance beneficial but not required.
