DEPARTMENT: Tulalip Office of Civil Legal Aid
JOB SUMMARY: The Child Advocate Fellow will have an opportunity have an in-depth experience learning how to effectively serve as a Native children and youth attorney in dependency cases at the Tulalip Tribal Court. Under the Rule 9 supervision of an experienced children’s attorney, the fellow will provide legal advocacy on behalf of the child client’s stated interests and wishes by providing holistic and collaborative legal representation to children and youth involved in dependency cases at the Tribal Court. The Fellow will provide legal representation and advocacy for the client’s stated interests within established policies, procedures and ordinances.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school required.
MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE
- Six (6) months of experience through internships or related work experience in any setting that works with children and youth.
- Experience in two or more areas of juvenile justice, child abuse and neglect, family dynamics, child development, education, domestic violence, or substance abuse.
SKILLS TESTING
- Typing- 35 WPM
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
- WA State Driver’s License. (Personal Automobile Insurance)
- Must be a member of the Tulalip Tribal Bar. *Will allow six (6) weeks to obtain.
- Must adhere to The Tulalip Tribal Court Ethics – Code of Conduct Court Employees Policy
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a Contracted position.
