The Director of Finance and Budgets is a leadership role that reports to the Chief Business Officer. The Director is responsible for financial budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for the School of Science & Engineering (SSE). This position works closely with the leadership team in ensuring funds are deployed to support the Dean’s vision.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Experience in planning, organizing, and managing processes that bring about the successful completion of specific deliverables.
    • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively present information to various constituents.
    • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Ability to contribute to department-specific and overall business strategies.
    • Ability to prepare financial reports and forecasts, form data-based solutions, and translate information to non-financial personnel.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to interact with individuals internal and external to the organization in an effective, courteous, and productive manner.
    • Excellent organizational skills; the ability to prioritize work to meet anticipated and established deadlines.
    • Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and the propensity to bring projects or issues to closure.
    • Ability to work independently to complete tasks.
    • Strong computer skills with emphasis on word processing, database and spreadsheet software applications.


    Required Education and/or Experience



  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business, or related.
    • Five (5) years directly related experience.


    Preferred Qualifications



  • Certified Public Accountant
