Minimum hourly pay for this non-exempt position is $15.59 with $1.00/hour increase for satisfactory performance within 6 months ($16.69 total). Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 6am-2pm, but may vary for operational necessity in the event of snow or other emergency.  


Under general supervision, this position’s primary role during painting season is to prep, prime, paint and generally maintain a variety of airfield surfaces such as runways, taxiways, ramps, parking lots, signs, etc. During the off-season performs maintenance on the painting equipment, works with management to design a painting plan for the following season, and performs skilled operation of heavy automotive equipment on a regularly assigned basis; performs a range of general maintenance and renovation activities involving Airport properties and facilities, and other related assigned duties. Eligible for a $.50 raise at 90 days and 180 days for a satisfactory review of job performance. 

Requirements

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Inspects, repairs, primes and paints airfield runways, taxiways and ramps.

· Prepares a variety of surfaces for painting; lays out and stripes parking lots, runways, taxiways and ramps.

· Operates various power hand tools and equipment and various light to heavy painting and automotive equipment on a regular basis

· Checks for proper functioning of equipment during operation and makes needed adjustments

· Performs preventative maintenance on equipment, including operation pre-check and services equipment with proper fluids and lubricants

· Repairs and maintains runways, taxi-ways, cargo ramps, aircraft ramps, roadways, parking lots, and off-Airport properties

· Performs additional semiskilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, concrete, and asphalt work

· Trains new personnel in the operation of painting equipment

· Performs hazardous waste containment procedures

· Participates in fencing, mowing, runway rubber removal and field renovation

· Participates in clean-up of work areas and equipment when projects are completed

· Establishes contact and maintains good relationships with tenants

· Reports to work on a regular and timely basis; performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience: Graduation from high school or possession of a General Educational Development Certificate (GED), and 2 (years) years of experience in the operation of painting equipment, large automotive equipment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Requires the ability to operate, calibrate, tune and synchronize, and perform complex rapid adjustment on equipment, machinery and tools such as highway stripers, sandblasters, snow plow, blowers, paint rollers/brushes, scrapers, jet brooms, concrete grinders, common power tools, heavy construction equipment and mowers; good knowledge of the hazards and applicable safety rules and regulations of equipment operation; and good knowledge of Part 139 Airport and FAA security, operational and safety regulations/requirements. Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time in varying weather conditions; ability to use and instruct others in the use of heavy equipment and mechanical tools and equipment; ability to operate and instruct others in the use of various types of automotive and power equipment; ability to read and interpret plans and specifications; ability to apply first aid and CPR techniques and other FAA-required procedures in emergency situations; ability to operate ground two-way radios; and the ability to courteously and tactfully communicate with fellow workers, supervisors, other members of the organization, and the public in giving and receiving information

Physical Requirements: Physical requirements include standing and walking; frequent lifting up to 60 pounds; occasional carrying up to 50 pounds; occasional pushing up to 20 pounds; frequent climbing, balancing, smelling, twisting, bending and kneeling; occasional reaching, crawling, handling, and feeling; and vision, speech and hearing sufficient to perform essential tasks.

Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class "D" Operator’s License. Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.

Working Environment: Working environment is primarily outdoors and occasionally indoors, and in inclement weather. May be exposed to the following: hazardous materials, animal waste/dead animals, flammable liquids, traffic, cramped work areas, excessive dust, weather/temperature extremes, trench excavations, underground gas/electric/petroleum lines, rough terrains, cutting/chipping/grinding, hazardous/toxic atmospheres, sewage, damp/wet surfaces, snow/ice covered surfaces, animal bites, snake bites, insect bites, poisonous plants, overhead power lines, toxic fumes/vapors/odors, compressed gases, extremely high noises, oily surfaces, refuse/garbage/litter, and may be subject to shift changes or subject to be on 24 hour callback or standby.


Note:

This classification is a “safety sensitive” position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing and Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Laws. As a “safety sensitive” classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
