Under general supervision, the engineering technician performs a variety of technical engineering, Computer-Aided Design/Drafting systems (CADD), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) work and coordinates contract documents and procedures for the construction management of various tenant projects the Tulsa Airports system. This is an exempt position with normal weekday office hours with a minimum starting salary of $51,489 and will be commensurate with education and experience.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Designs, drafts (using CADD\\GIS software), analyzes, and plans for Airport projects in accordance with accepted standards and specifications.

* Produces CADD drawings, exhibits, and develops/ updates GIS datasets and drawings.

* Supports users of engineering tools such as CADD and GIS

* Aids in the preparation of yearly budget

* Coordinates preparation of construction drawings, study maps, charts, and graphs.

* Coordinates documents and procedures for the construction management of various tenant projects

* Conducts field inspections, investigations, and evaluations of various projects.

* Serves as liaison between contractors, Airport tenants, and FAA.

* Attends/conducts meetings

* Creates and submits FAA airspace studies.

* Provides basic system administration for plotters, scanners, and other computer equipment.

* Maintains project status logs and report time spent on projects, documenting procedures.

* Must report to work on a regular and timely basis and perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education & Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree or sixty (60) college hours in mapping/geography, civil engineering/surveying, project/construction management, computer drafting or related field; and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in computer graphics, mapping, and/or GIS; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.


Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and techniques of subprofessional engineering; considerable knowledge of construction principles, techniques, and practices of project management; good knowledge of various related software packages; good knowledge of surveying. Considerable knowledge of BOMA and FAA standards, rules, and regulations and in construction principles, techniques, and practices of project management. Comprehensive knowledge of the methods, materials, and instruments used in both traditional and Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD); as well as GIS software, word processing, graphics, and database software; comprehensive knowledge of the techniques and terminology of civil engineering, geography, surveying, mapping, and coordinate systems. Ability to make engineering calculations of moderate complexity; ability to read and interpret complex legal descriptions; ability to be accurate and detail-oriented; ability to operate proficiently a computer graphics workstation; ability to work independently as well as well as part of a team; ability to enforce regulations with firmness, tact and impartiality; ability to understand and influence the behavior of others within the organization, customers, or the public in order to achieve job objectives and cause action or understanding and the ability to courteously and tactfully communicate with fellow workers, supervisors, other members of the organization, and the public in giving and receiving information.


Physical Requirements: Physical requirements include arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity enough to use a keyboard, telephone, and drafting equipment; occasional lifting, carrying, and pulling up to 50 pounds; may be subject to walking, standing, sitting, reaching, balancing, bending, kneeling, handling, climbing, and twisting; and vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform the essential tasks.


Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class "D" Operator's License; ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge. Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification preferred.

Working Environment: Working environment is primarily indoors in an office setting, and sometimes in low-lighted areas; and requires occasional travel to various locations to verify information, research records and/or perform fieldwork.
