Under general supervision, the Facilities Maintenance Technician III performs a variety of rough and finish carpentry work at a journeyman level.

This position is subject to 24 / 7 call back for snow crew or other emergency situations. Minimum starting pay for this non-exempt daytime position is $18.

85 / hour or more based on skills and experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates a variety of power hand tools and equipment
  • Repairs cabinets, tables, shelves, desks, and a variety of other wood fixtures
  • Performs general carpentry construction, alteration work and remodeling on buildings, walls, windows, doors, roofs and outdoor furniture, including painting, floor and ceiling coverings, sheet rock, joint compound, and concrete / cement
  • Works from sketches and verbal instructions in performing tasks
  • Assists with semi-skilled facilities maintenance work
  • Must report to work on a regular and timely basis and perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education & Experience :

Graduation from high school or possession of a General Educational Development Certificate (GED), and two (2) years' experience in skilled carpentry work.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills :

Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and materials of the carpentry trade; and considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.

Ability to plan, design, layout and make simple estimates of time and materials of projects; ability to read and follow written instructions;

ability to write clearly and legibly; and the ability to understand and influence the behavior of others within the organization, customers, or the public in order to achieve job objectives and cause action or understanding.

Skill in the use of tools, power equipment, and materials common to the carpentry and maintenance trades

Physical Requirements :

Physical requirements include standing and walking; occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 60 pounds; occasional reaching;

frequent balancing, kneeling, bending, crawling, handling, feeling, climbing, smelling and twisting; and vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform essential tasks.

Licenses and Certifications :

Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class "D " Operator's License. Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.

Working Environment :

Working environment is primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors, and in inclement weather. May be exposed to the following : hazardous materials, flammable liquids, traffic, cramped work areas, excessive dust, weather / temperature extremes, cutting / chipping / grinding, damp / wet surfaces, snow / ice surfaces, insect bites, poisonous plants, overhead power lines, toxic fumes / vapors / odors, high noises, oily surfaces, and refuse / garbage / litter.

Note :

This classification is a "safety sensitive" position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing and Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Laws.

As a "safety sensitive" classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in drug panel screening.

Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
